TEHRAN (MNA): Over the past decade, Iran has emerged as a key player in cutting-edge technologies among Islamic nations, with significant contributions in fields like 3D printing, artificial intelligence, and neural networks, as per the latest report by the Web of Science database.

Excellence in 3D Printing
From 2014 to 2023, Iran ranked second among Islamic countries in 3D printing publications, with 606 scientific papers, and 22nd globally. Leading Iranian institutions in this field include:
• University of Tehran: 83 publications
• Amirkabir University of Technology: 83 publications
• Tarbiat Modares University: 40 publications
• Tehran University of Medical Sciences: 37 publications
Globally, Turkey ranked first among Islamic nations with 779 publications, while Malaysia secured third place with 543.

Leadership in Emerging Technologies
Iran has also demonstrated remarkable achievements in advanced technologies:
• 4D Printing: First among Islamic countries with 65 publications; ranked 11th globally.
• Industry 5.0: Second among Islamic nations with 1,625 publications, following Turkey (1,817) and ahead of Malaysia (1,611).

Key Industry 5.0 technologies include 4D printing, collaborative robots (cobots), augmented and virtual reality, cognitive computing, digital twins, and additive manufacturing.

AI and Neural Networks: Global and Regional Impact
Iran holds the top rank among Islamic countries in neural network technology with 17,458 publications (6th globally) and multi-agent systems with 351 publications (12th globally).
• AI Leadership: Second among Islamic nations and 16th globally.
• Machine Learning: Second regionally, 17th globally.
• Robotics: Second among Islamic countries, 27th globally.

The production of AI-related research in Iran has shown an impressive upward trend:
• Neural networks: Increased from 950 papers in 2014 to 2,207 in 2023.
• Machine learning: Rose from 81 papers in 2014 to 1,656 in 2023.
• Artificial intelligence: Grew from 98 papers in 2014 to 647 in 2023.
